Worried again

HI Doctor how are you?

I wrote to you like a month ago because I was worried about a possible HIV risk situation I had, your answer was very helpful. I am not worried about HIV anymore since after I wrote to you I tested negative via Oraquick at 8 and 11.5 weeks ( I guess it is conclusive). However now I am concerned about other STDs, specially herpes and warts, I have been checking my mouth a lot these days and I noticed a small pimple on my tongue that lasted for a few days and then disappeared, it was a little painful but not much and now its gone I just have like a tiny white dot. Also after that I started to check my lips and noticed that on my upper lip when I look really close I can see a  lot of tiny dots specially when you stretch the skin, I don

I have the same symptoms, a little white dot on the front side of my tongue, it's always just one small dot with white inside, It all lasts for about  3 days, first day I feel a little discomfort, second day I see the white dot, third day it starts to go away. In between the dot symptom, I feel my mouth burning a little with slight irritation. It all started when my new girlfriend told me she had Herpes, I been having oral sex with her. I then went to the doctor, told him the situation, he ran many STD tests, all came back negative, I then got a second opinion same result, all STD tests negative. One doctor did give me some medication a steroids to reduce inflammation and decrease pain, I took it to no avail. I would like mention that I thought  I could get past this with my girlfriend and we stood together but no sex, we still kissed, soon after she had the white dot on her tongue, "She said :she'd never had the dot In her mouth before", I guess I gave it to her, it must be contagious.

Please advise

Your oral symptoms don't sound like herpes, and people do not get genital-type HPV infections of the mouth--or if they get infected, warts or other HPV problems virtually never develop.  This is a non-problem.

1) There is no risk of acquiring any STD from such an exposure.

2) Not applicable; nothing will happen.

3) There is no risk for HIV.  But if you're worried, you can always get retested.  Your symptoms sound more anxiety-driven than anything else, and certainly not suggestive of either HIV or STD.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

You mention a bump on your tongue.  This sounds more like an inflamed taste bud(I dont know the scientific term for them).  Sometimes, irritation from such as certain foods or spices, and or from hot foods, they can become inflamed.  They look like bumps and can sometimes be a bit sore.  Another problem you noticed is bumps around your lip.  They dont sound like HSV1.  HSV1 resembles a cold sore, more or less.  A majority of the population has HSV1 so if you did have it, which i highly doubt you do, it wouldnt be the end of the world.  Im sure you dont have anything to worry about but get tested for HSV just to rid your anxiety of this whole issue.  I honestly feel your anxiety is making you see too far into your bodies normal anatomy.  I was there at one point, just like you are.  I found out i had nothing to worry about, as so will you.
