small shiny red patch of skin on base of shaft

Hi, I recently noticed a small red blotch-like patch of skin at the base of my penis.  It is shiny in appearance and wrinkly (more wrinkly than the skin around it).  I have peeled a very small amount of skin off near the edges (very small amount).  when it is flattened (stretched) out it almost disappears.  there is no blister, it is flat, no irritation, itching or discharge.  I am worried it could be something worse than it is since I hear things like herpes or syphilis can have "mild" outbreaks. I was close with someone and engaged in oral sex, but no penetration, about 3 weeks ago.   I plan on seeing a doctor about it but do not have the time or money for at least a week.  any thoughts?   also, it is right on top of a blood vessel, could it be that it burst during activity?  I was very active the prior weekend in the hot sun, and somewhat the day before I noticed it.  Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I am very interested to know how you got on, I have exactly the same symptoms. Even down to "when it is flattened (stretched) out it almost disappears". I also had unprotected oral sex and am worried that my symptoms may be attributed to that. I have been tested for STD's and nothing came back, but I am still worried it could be a mild syphilis outbreak as it can take a number of months to defect in the blood and the clinic said to go back again in three months time. I have also been using hydrocortizone, but I still have the mark after three weeks.

Do you still have you problem, has it been diagnosed as anything?

There was plenty of body/body contact.  I am ruling out syphilis because no break in the skin occurred and it appears to be receding, its been 3 days since I noticed it.  I've been using hydrocortizone and moisturizers liberally the past 3 days.  herpes is the only other thing I'm worried about, but I have my doubts.  I hear primary outbreaks come with flu symptoms and herpes bumps of which I have neither...nor itch, pain, etc.  But, not being able to go to a doctor right away is killing me.  Thanks for the support

Doesn't sound STD related to me. STDs are hard to transmit orally, but still possible.
I don't think it would be syphilis because you would have a growth and it would be a large and very noticeable bump.
I do not know what it is, but I don't think it is an STD.
Since your going to the doctor anyways just have it checked out.
I'm sure everything is fine.

Best of Luck,
