I have no idea whats wrong...

I have recently been through a traumatic experiance and latly i find myself depressed and i havnt slept in days. Ive been taking sleeping pills just so i can get at least a couple hours rest. I feel extremly alone and i cant vent to anyone. I have moved from house to house trying to fit in. I am now currently with my mom and am not attending school due to a mess of custody issues. I dont know if im simply overwhelmed or have been keeping it in to long and am about to burst from the pressure. Mayby i just need some friends to occupie my time and mind. I feel deprived of life. Please tell me what can help im desperate for an answer.

Scincerly,
confused

Sounds like you are dealing with a lot right now. Not too long ago I was in such a state of mind that I rarely slept. The only way I know to describe it was I felt like I was stuck in high gear, and almost even became OCD about some things. By the time I realized I was in trouble. It took me 3 days of intentional leisure to start to wind down. You may have limitations as to how much you can change your scenery, but I encourage you to intentionally do things differently in your day to day schedule. Break the glitch in your brain. Limit your TV to mindless shows with no drama, sadness or turmoil. Comedies are the best. Watch cute videos online, like the animal ones. Your brain and nervous system has been through too much and needs to be nurtured and pampered and given the rest it needs to heal. Try to eat healthy during this time and avoid caffiene. Journaling helps some. Crying helps others. If it is all too much for you, please ask someone for help. Everybody's story is different, but most have been through some rough times. Sometimes we can just bulldoze our way through them, but as for me, more than once I needed help. No shame in that.

Hi dazedandconfused915, how are you? Relax! You seemed to be probably under severe stress due to the traumatic episode. Do you lose hope to get depressed, this is just a bad phase in life which is temporary. When did you witness this painful experience and did it have any personal cause or a direct impact on your life? You might be facing sleeplessness due to recollecting the same incident again and again or not able to come out of it. Have you been evaluated by a doctor? Who had prescribed you the sleeping pills? It is good idea to spend most of leisure hours with family, relatives and friends to keep yourself engaged but please concentrate on your studies, as it is more important. Change in place and short outings with family and friends can be of certain help. Avoid excessive tea/coffee, alcohol and late night bed practice. Do morning-evening walks, stretches and massage that may be useful. You may consult a neurologist and a sleep specialist if it is getting worse and interfering with daily living and studies. Take care and share your thoughts.
