Wake up seeing things???

I have, on SEVERAL occasions, woke up about an hour or so after I dose off (at night) to sleep and I think I see things.  Example:  I woke up one time swearing that there was a spider on the wall.  I woke up my husband and he said there was nothing there.  I feel like I'm totally awake, eyes open, speaking clearly, everything.  I just don't understand why this happens.  Sometimes when it begins, I tell him that it's not like before and I tell him that this time I really do see something.  So...I do realize what I'm doing at the time.  Then I go right back to sleep with no problems.  It's funny when it occurs because it's become a regular thing but I know this can't be normal.  Can someone please explain why this occurs?

You may be experiencing seizures.  Please see a neurologist and tell him/her
that your stomach is upset when you see these things and that it happens during the first hour of sleep.  Good Luck!

I'm really relieved to know that there are tons of people that have the same experiences as I do. I started having these night terrors a few years ago(from what i can remember) and they seem to be progressing each time. It started with spiders on the wall or coming down from the ceiling and just got more bizarre from there.

I've seen: floating shrunken heads, flying squirrel/butterfly things, the walls will warp and spin(kinda like a portal)fingers wrapping around my doorway, eyes staring at me from the doorway, and recently i've seen a white/clear old woman figure with flowing hair staring at me in my doorway.

Last night in fact i woke up and saw "her" looking at me and when i began to scream for my mom i saw her running away and when my mom came no one was there. I am always terrified when i see these things, but realize eventually that they are not real. I usually will scream or shout at it to go away and it takes me awhile to go back to sleep. Typically all of the figures/shapes are dark and shadowy and are hard to distinguish.

I did have a traumatic experience when i was 4(though i never think about it) and accept that it may have something to do with it.I'm 22, and I do have stress sometimes, but these occurrences are always random and i never know if it will be a night terror-free sleep or not. I wish that these didn't happen, and if they continue to get worse i will probably go to a sleep clinic.

The bad thing is that most of the people i've told think i'm crazy, and i KNOW I'M NOT. My mother told me to pray it all away one night( I'm an Atheist) and it only made me angry. I'm sure that we are all suffering from a type of sleep disorder, and hopefully there is some type of therapy or help we can get to diminish or lessen these experiences.

I get these episodes mostly when I'm stressed. However, I do tend to get these episodes at random times, as well. I am now 17 and I've been having problems like this since I was very young. It started off with sleep walking and now I see the most craziest things. Such as, animals, people, insects, you name it, I've seen it! I know I have these episodes, so i wake myself up and go back to sleep. I wake up feeling restless. I would very much like to find out why I am having these sleepless night
