What's going on with her?

My sister is 14 yrs. old and my parents plan to take her to her doctor because they want to know whats up as well as I do. But she is still in my room, she's been there for a week. last night she started something new, now she suck her throat ( like when babies are sucking a bottle). Sometimes I want to cry because I think she is stressing and I want to help.

Hi genious08, hope you and your sister are doing well? I would suggest you and your parents to get your sister evaluated by an ENT doctor to know the cause for her snoring and throat discomfort. I do understand how frustrated you might be due to lack of sleep and still want to help your sister solve her problem. Have bit of patience till she is evaluated. It is also good to get a sleep study done. Do relax and be active. Take care and update.

Your concern for your sister is touching - must be those big sister instincts kicking in. Since your parents are taking her to the doctor, hopefully she'll have help soon and both of you will be able to get some rest. I've heard people make that sucking sound before. One called it "scratching" her throat. Maybe your sister is having some sort of discomfort and that motion is the only way to reach it. Please let us know what her doctor says.
