Sounds like Hashimoto's, but 76 is low, if that is any consolation. Mine is over 1200.
The goiter would be freaking me out, not the rest of it.
Take the perscription. What is dangerous about Cipro? Any infection that calls for Cipro should be taken seriously, as in get the meds and take them.
I understand the anxiety problem, too. I have been trying to get the right diagnosis for over a year and am still waiting. Hard on the nerves. I'm taking Alprazolam.
Talk to your doctor if you are anxious or depressed.
Ciprofloxacin is a broad spectrum antibiotic which can cause a complete knock down of all your healthy bacteria in the intestine and open you to deadly super infections in your intestinal tract. It is used to treat lower respiratory tract, abdominal, skin, bone and joint, and urinary tract infections. It is usually used for serious infections though so I wonder why your doctor would prescribe it unless you have an underlying condition besides the thyroid.
My suggestion is that you get yourself some Culturelle asap. Take a bunch of it, 3 a day for about 3 days before you start your Cipro. Then continue taking it throughout the entire length of your prescription and 7 days afterward. It is an expensive OTC, strong probiotic, but it is the only one I have seen work.
I would ask for something less 'invasive'.
It is just some kind of bump, skin infection he said, probably by a hair. I do not want to take this horrible antibiotic for that. I'm going to watch it and call back Monday and ask for something else. I can't imagine why he would prescribe that.
