Some simple antibody tests will determine if you have Hashimoto's. If you do, your whole thyroid will eventually be "dead" - meaning it will no longer produce hormones all.
It's always kind of nice to know what to expect.
Honestly I don't but would not be surprised due to all other autoimmune disorders.
do you know if you have hashimotos? the surgery is a breeze by the way.
The surgery is 4/9. It is a partial. So ready to just get this over with!
I had my thyroid removed because i couldnt swallow and had horrible pain.. IM doing just fine...
Exactly what type of surgery is being done? Total thyroidectomy, partial thyroidectomy, nodule removal? I assume cancer is suspected?
It's always counterproductive to worry about "worst case scenario"; that simply causes unneeded anxiety.
On a positive note, thyroid cancer is one of the easiest of all cancers to "cure", because once the thyroid is removed, so is the cancer.
Depending on the type of surgery you're having, you will most likely be hypo and will have to start thyroid replacement med. Once levels are where you need them, hopefully, everything will be fine.
When is your surgery?
Best wishes to you.
