Not wierd at all.
I was glad to read your post. I had no idea this was related. I thought I was just growing another appendage. I too have lost an inch of my 5'9" height and have the lovely hump. And although I was not aware of it, my husband kept telling me that I lean forward.
I am very new to the "Thy Club" here and I am so glad to have found you. I have so much to learn. I thought I was going crazy with my symptoms.
After many years of the wrong doctors I finally found one who knows what he's doing. Prior to that I had 2 thyroid biopsies done in two different towns, neither of which showed any thyroid tissue to evaluate. (can you believe that?) I am sure they had no idea what they were doing. I am now going to a real Doctor who does his own biopsies.
I recently had the most thorough blood work ever, and found my numbers are way off. I started my meds of 50000IU Vitamin D weekly and 50mcg Levothyroxine daily. I won't know much more until my next Dr. visit in a few weeks.
I appreciate knowing I can come here for support.
I'm hyper but have hunchback too. I think it's from stress and feeling heavy like my body is dragging.
Hi, Yes I get clicking in my ears all the time. It is very common, and I know when I read your question I became aware of it again. Hard not to notice it when you are aware of it, but it has to do with the way the muscles work in our jaw and up into the back of the ear. It really has nothing to do with thyroid at all.
The other question you asked, YES! I felt like the Hunchback of Notre Dame! Once it was taken out (the thyroid not the hunchback, lol!) I noticed I was no longer needing to slouch as much. It is a compensating thing we do coz the pressure on the throat is too much we automatically lean forward a little which in turn causes the back to move away and voila! A lovely hunchback!
I do know also that having Hashimoto's and other thyroid related problems can cuse you to develop a hunch like lump on the back. It can be a build up of fatty tissue, which is a weird kind of thing, but is a symptom. In my case it was the need to breathe that caused my hump.
