Thyroid disorder

Around age 30 I had a radio- active thyroid treatment. I'm now 69, had heart failure in Apr.2011.  I take Plavix 75mg. Lisinopril/Hyhrochlorothiazide 20/12.5 mg. Asprin 81 mg.  Supposed to be on Levothroxin 75 mcg.  I understand the need for the Levo/75, but it causes extreem nerve isseus. I feel anxious, irretate, just plain mean.
don't sleep well, tired to the point of being lethargic. weight problem, trying, but couldn't lose  Have lost 10 lbs. after taking myself off the Levo Dec.15th and of course watching diet. I'm feeling better daily. Have more energy canc walk longer/without thiegh pain. I think my Dr.'s think I'm crazy. Started looking for an endocrinologist today and came across this site.

Thyroid hormones are crucial just to stay alive, as they control metabolism, heart rate, body temperature, along with others.

You really need to get some current blood work and find out what your levels are.

The minimum tests you need are TSH, Free T3 and Free T4; these will tell you whether or not you need a higher/lower dose of levo.

Get the blood tests done and make sure you get a copy of your lab report, then post your levels, with reference ranges from your report, here, so we can help assess your situation and comment more fully.

You have been taking levo for a long time, and I'm wondering how often your blood tests are done or your levels adjusted.  I wouldn't have been brave enough to stop meds completely without a latest bloodtest to 'gauge' where I was, to take to get another opinion.   Did you get a copy of your latest blood tests?  I hope you find a good Endo who can assess you properly.
