Can I switch taking propanolol 80 mg ER from morning to bedtime the same day?

I am taking this to help control undiagnosed symptoms of what could be a thyroid disorder. I've been taking it at ten in the morning but I read it should be before bed time which make sense based on some of the side effects. I just don't know if it is safe to take 12 hours apart for the one time to switch to the later time. I really feel it would be better for me before bed so I can get up and running in the mornings without the side effects of tiredness sometimes lightheaded and weak too but that goes away hours later.

You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist to find out for sure how to do this, but whenever I've switched times of day, I've skipped the med for a day, then started at the time I wanted, in order to make sure I didn't get too much.

Again, that's just what I've done; you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to be sure...

I currently take 10 mg propanolol 3xday.  I keep irregular hours and the time of day does not seem to matter.  Shortly after I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease, I saw a cardiologist to see if there was damage to my heart.  (none, thank goodness) I was concerned at the rapid heart rate and what increased activity would do, ie exercising to drop some of the weight that I had rapidly gained back.  She said, "just take another Propanolol"

I will admit that 80mg is a lot more than I am taking and I do not have a firm answer for you, but I will share that I do not take my doses at the same time each day.  I make sure that it is spaced out, but I take one when I get up, one 4 or 5 hours later and one in my "evening" whenever that is.

I have also found that pharmacists are a GREAT resource for answers on medications.  They know what the chemicals are, how they affect the body and how they work.  And they are usually very happy to share info with you.  Give your pharmacist a call.

(my apologies if this double posts.  The computer just freaked out on me)
