Yes, the board helps a ton! If I hadn't found you guys before my surgery I would have worried myself sick. But I was fairly calm, and luckily, the outcome was the best I could have hoped for.
Thanks for taking the time to answer - I really appreciate it.
I presume your ENT just assumed the other half would be working as it does in 80% of the cases. So I don't think either of you did anything wrong in communicating LOL ..but this board helps 500% doesn't it!

Glad to have helped and PLEASE be certain to post back as I'll be looking for you!!
Also, the calf muscle pain .. be sure to mention to her .. although, less likely, they will run calcium level.

Thanks so much for the advice. Either my ENT is not a great communicator or I'm not! It seems everything I know about thyroid (which isn't much :) ), I've learned on this site. He's a great surgeon, though.
I have been tempted to let it go, because I don't feel "bad", just tired. Thanks for letting me know how important it is to get checked out. I'll definitely see my primary doctor and see what she thinks.
I appreciate your help,
TJ
If I were you I'd go to see either your Primary Doc or more preferably an Endocrinologist. They are the ones who handle the Synthroid dosing. An ENT will put you on it sometimes right after surgery and then refer you to either/or Dr. for following treatment.
The timing sounds about right if your other side is not functioning that you are going hypo and keep in mind that however long you have the symptoms it can take that long to reverse them and especially if you are undergoing another surgery you don't want this to be a stress to your system as it is hard enough to recover from any surgery let alone being hypo at the same time.
The levels are taken from bloodwork.

Thanks to you both. No, I am not on thyroid meds and no doctor has mentioned this to me yet. I'll ask the ENT at my appointment. Thanks again.
YES get thyroid levels ck'd asap as well as calcium levels. (cramps) ........ I had a partial in Jan 07 and within 3 weeks my levels began to drop off and they realized my other half of thyroid is not functioning!
I am on Synthroid 88mcgs for 5 days a week and 100mcgs the other 2 days.
Hope this helps .....
Cheryl
Are you on thyroid meds to help supplement the loss of that part of your thyroid. If not, I would say maybe you need to get your levels checked out because it sounds like they could be too low. I'm not a doc though, just know that is how I feel when mine get low.
