Thyroid results

Hi,
I have been having a good deal of health issues lately. Lots of symptoms and no good answers.

I just got my latest lab results back and was hoping someone might be able to tell me more about them.

Thyroid:

January 07:
TSH: 3,97 (0,7-3,5)
T4: 11 (7-16)

Oktober 06:
TSH: 2,97 (0,7-3,5)
T4: 9 (7-16)

Everything I read says that to be hypo TSH should be high and T4 low. What about when your T4 is normal?

I have been losing hair for a long long time and I have had hives too Then last winter I started having spells of tiredness and I've been gaining weight fast the past 2 years because of extreme hunger.

Other then that I have been
Then I was diagnosed this summer with IBD, although the doctor isn't sure if it is Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's disease. At the same time I started having these symptoms:

Cold hands and feet (ice cold)
Dry palms
Swollen ankles
Gritty eyes
Dry dull hair
Throat hurts when I breath (think it is my windpipe)
Brain fog
Wake up every night at 4am
Pimple-like rash on the chest and back

Ok.. any replies would be great!

Sounds hypo to me, but could be other things as well...

The ranges are a little tricky at times, but the standards for TSH have changed and anything >3 is considered hypo.  My TSH was 4.52 (I felt blah...tired...lethargic, but nothing too bad)and had positive antibodies indicating Hashimoto's and was treated with Armour - have been for 5 weeks now and TSH dropped to .32 and I feel better and have lost 4 pounds without trying!!
Also, my Free T4 was wihin range 1.17 (.9 - 1.8 I think was the range)

Have you had antibody tests done?  That will indicate if you have Hashi's (autoimmune where body attacks thyroid causing hypothyroid).

You need to find a dr that will listen to your symptoms and not just read numbers!!!  I go to a naturopath dr and regular dr would not treat me and told me my TSH had to be >20!!!

Sometimes is is hard to go by TSH numbers - some people feel fine at 4 and others feel MISERABLE.  The numbers don't always correlate to how one feels

Thank you so much for your reply.. I feel terrible, and have felt terrible since this summer. My tests have been borderline ever since august, so I guess I am one of those people who feels blah as soon as the numbers stray. Who knows... I will ask about the other tests you mentioned. I am having some throat issues, so I am afraid my thyriod is inflamed or something.
