Are there others like me???

I have been going to 5 doctors for the past 9 months trying to find help but being pushed to someone else. I am on armour now and it worked for one week end of March but since then I have been a wreck. I have gone to 2 endos plus an internist plus a couple of other doctors and have gotten no help. The last endo was supposed to be a thyroid specialist and she has recommended a neurologist because of my fogginess. It took me 10 years to get diagnosed and then 10 years on synthyroid didn't really help and 3 years on Levoxyl was the worst. Now my blood test shows my TSH at 0. I am thinking of going back on synthyroid. But I have made an appointment with a holistic person. Don't know if that is going to do any good but the doctors sure aren't helping. Does anyone know why the armour worked and then just quit and I just can't get better? Thanks:)

I was thinking along the same lines as GL above .... a TSH of 0 is very hyper and just may be too too much for you ... when I was at 0.669 I was not feeling well and they lowered my synthroid dosing accordingly.

Your disease might have progressed to hyperthyroidism, which is not unusual. You  might need more aggressive and permanent treatment.  However, if it were me, I'd stop all meds., test in 4 weeks and see what levels suggest  and if necessary repeat in 6 weeks to see if both test correspond to each other, or thereabouts.  All three should be done TSH, FT-4 and
FT-3. Get copies of (all thyroid) test with Labs reference range - you can follow your progress and learn what levels are best for you.

I don't know if Armour just quit or its working too much by over dosing you.  You might not need the Armour.  Depending on your FT-3, you might only need a T3 supplement added to your T4 supplement.  But when taking T3 supplement it needs to be taken several times through out the day and night because it has a very short shelf life, like 4 to 6 hours. In other words it only last in the symptoms up to 4 to 6 hours then need another dose for the next 4 to 6 hours and so forth. Whereas T4 last 6 days.  But I'd be careful, for T3 can be very potent.  It needs the right does to the right dose of T4, so you'll need a doctor who knows how to prescribe T3 to T4.

You'll get better when you find the right doctor and the right meds., and the right levels that make you feel your best. Maybe not 100% but close.

Good Luck.

Curious to know, do you have a sleeping disorder or sleep apnea as well as the thyroid problem?

I have the fogginess and have both. When I get more restful sleep, I have less fogginess.

I went on the Armour but didn't like it. I like the Synthroid with Cytomel. I feel much better receiving my T3 that way.
