Goiters grow backwards?

This just blows me away.  I've been dealing with this stupid multi-nodule goiter for the past 9 months and both PCP & Endo have felt my neck and said they couldn't really feel anything out of the ordinary and I have to practically beg to get an ultrasound.  I keep doubting myself, thinking it's all in my head - like, stop thinking about choking and it will go away, or drink more water so your voice won't be so hoarse.  Jeez Louise, why don't they give you answers like this when you're in the doctor's office, I would have asked if only I had known.

Sorry your going through this! I also have a 5.2cm nodule/goiter, going to have surgery Aug 16 and on my last ultrasound the Endo said its growing backwards (depth or inward?) and it needs to come out.  I been going through this for 7yrs and I'm like you thought that lot of it was in my head. (hoarse, choking, sore throat, ear pain etc...) What did your ultrasound say? Doc just don't listen anymore!  Hopefully things will get better. BEST WISHED & GOOD LUCK

Goiters grow anywhere they can .Mine grew down under my sternum compressing my trachea and esophagus so they had to cvut open my sternum to get it out. That is stupid your doc wont do an ultrasound.Maybe it is time for new docs.
I pray you can get this reolved soon
