Thyroid issues?

I am 37 and recently started having dry hair which I seem to be losing a lot of, tired and benign heart palpitations (checked by cardio). My internist did some bloodwork and my TSH is 5.878 but T4 normal. My grandmother had thyroid problems (goiter).  Previous to all of this I was diagnosed with Raynaud's disease and my bloodwork had a ANA of 179.  Does anyone have advice? I hate feeling so crappy and miss my hair being normal.  I have a consult with an endocrinologist but not until April.

My dr. said he felt my TSH wasn't that high he said he didn't want to start any meds until I saw the endocrinologist. I am frustrated and can't do anything until april when I see the endo.  I HATE dr.'s!!!! The thing is this all happened after I had a hysterectomy back in Dec. I still wonder if that threw things out of wack. My gyn tested my estrogen and ovary functions since I kept them and they were all normal but I hate feeling this way!

Did you ask your dr to start you on low dose T4 med until you get into endo?
The new TSH lab range is .30-3.0, so you are hypothyroid Now the question is why you are hypo. You need to have anitbody tests done for Graves and Hashimoto's.
I am surprised that your dr has not started you on thyroid medicine so you can start to feel better.
