Thanks for all your help and input. My free T4 is at the right level and apparently my DR is happy with that... he expects that I have been fighting a slowly declining thyroid for many years and now that we are trying to regulate my thyroid, it seems to be decreasing in its overall functioning... All I really want is to drop the 30# I have gained over the past year.... Exercise, low carb, and high TSH just doesn't seem to get the job done... I guess once my TSH is regulated my weight will follow suit...it better or I will soon have to buy an entirely new wardrobe... Any suggestions on weight loss during this battle???
I think we're both saying the same thing here. Your 100/75 split works out to 650 per week. My obsessive/compulsive exact dose of 94 per day works out to 658. And you probably lose the eight in the powder that drops when you split it!!!! I'm just so sensitive to this stuff that I like to stay on an even keel as much as possible.
Forgot to mention something.....
My Doctor goes on what amount of T4 is taken WEEKLY and not DAILY.
If 700mcg is too much over a period of a week (7 days) then by taking 100mcg 5 days a week and 75mcg 2 days a week, you are actually taking 50mcg lower than you were at the start when you went hypo.
It may be worth a try....it worked for me.
Why not try 100mcg 5 times a week and 88mcg 2 days a week?
'Tweaking is what you need and basically when you first start this, it is trial and error.
But it will even out very soon.
Ask your Doc about this dosage though before trying it.
Good Luck :)
I have to agree that it would be more logical to go somewhere between 88 and 100 since you seem to have identified your "too much" when you were on 100 and your "too little" when you were on 88. You could try 94...split a 100 in half and an 88 in half and take half of each every day. Talk to your doctor about this first, of course. He probably wants to get your TSH down before you become symptomatic, but overcompensating usually comes with its own problems and is best avoided.
I doubt improving your diet caused any of this.
Do you have FT3 and FT4 numbers and reference ranges also? That would help fill out the picture.
I had been on Levthyroxine at 50,75 and 100 and my TSH would not budge during the six weeks in between dosage increases, when I was at 10 per day, I changed MDs and The Endo I went to explained that Levothyroxine, a generic, that the strength, could vary too much and was not constant, He put me on 100mg of Synthroid (Name Brand) and within 6 weeks my Tsh went down to 0.078 From over 6.0, Now I have gone down to 88 and just the other day (Because I was still at 0.078)
reduced it to 75. So it could be a change in Generic/Namebrand may suit you better. Good Luck FTB4
