When you say no good sleep what do you mean?

Reason why I ask is that many Hypo patients are tired all the time but they get to sleep almost immediately but do not sleep soundly and wake up often etc.  While Hyper patients tend to be so wound up they can't get to sleep.  So both are sleep problems but they seem to generally manifest themselves differently.

Anxiety and irritability are also symptoms that cross over between the two.

As far as pathology, it is hard to say.  Hyper can be caused by Graves disease.  This can be determined with the definitive test TSI.  Hypo can be caused and most popular reason for Hypo is Hasimoto's.  And this test you need to be tested for TPOab and TGab. This is antibody testing.

It is a not as common if not pretty rare but some people can have BOTH, Hasimotos's AND Graves at the same time. Both are autoimmune system disorders.

Sorry I can't be of much more help. You numbers are strange but they are not majorly  off the charts one way or the other so you're a bit of an odd case in that regard.

Well that is a longer answer on how the whole thyroid system works.

One possibility.  You pituitary gland measures the thyroid level in your blood. If it senses that you need more, it pumps out TSH (thyroid Stimulating Hormone) which does just as its name implies.  It stimulates the thyroid gland to produce hormone.

Your thyroid gland produces BOTH hormones T4 and T3. But it produces MUCH, MUCH more T4.

The body only uses Free T3 at the cellular level

T4 is a storage hormone and it remains in the blood until the body needs it. At which point the T4 is converted into T3.

So your thyroid can be producing the T4, but your body is not converting into T3 very well.  Thus if this were the case, you'd end up with lots of T4 in your blood but since it isn't used, it just sits there waiting and storing up more.

That is just one possibility.

Are you currently taking any thyroid medication?

Anxiety and insomnia are symptoms that cross over and are common to BOTH hypo and hyper.

Your FT4 are ABOVE range while your FT3 is in the bottom 1/3 of the range.  That is an odd situation

Have you had an ultrasound of your Thyroid to determine if you have any "hot" nodules?

I took the quiz (online, very complet)  and at the end he says this:

You answered 10 items out of 38 in a way that indicates hyperthyroidism risks and symptoms.
Your score is 26%. You have some hyperthyroidism risks and symptoms, enough to suggest that you definitely should be evacuate.

So, same question.  How are you feeling?  Do you have any symptoms that might related to thyroid issues?

The most important question is, how are you feeling?  Lab test results are really secondary to that.

Why were you tested?  Have you been diagnosed as having a thyroid issue?  Are you taking any thyroid medication?  If so, what type and dosage?
