Can migraines be conected to thyroid?

Hi

I am not on any medication at present as I had RAI for Graves Disease on 3 April 2009.

My bloods (UK Labs) after RAI were

19 May 2009 TSH 0.6
                    FT4 13

30 June 2009 TSH 1.5
                     FT4 14

Basically normal levels.

I am having the most awful migraines.  I have only had one day without visual aura since last Monday.  Headaches are pretty bad as well.

I've only ever had one migraine before - 15 years ago.

This is scary - keep meaning to go to Doctor but then when I go to phone I feel well again.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Should I conatct my doctor?  I just feel there is so much going wrong with me just now, beginning to feel like a hypochondriac

Thanks.  Hope you are all feling well.

Before RAI, I never really had migraines but would get like a 'pressure ' feeling on the sides of my head....as if my head was in a vice (yes I know it sounds silly but thats the only way to describe the pain).
After RAI, I would sometimes get an occassional headache after increasing the thyroxin.
But I havent had headaches for months now...it was at the early stage after RAI.

When I asked my Doc, he told me that it was the hormone imbalance of FT3 and FT4,.
I too have Graves....maybe that will shed some light on the problem for you.
I think maybe its your levels balancing out...give yourself some more time.
And get your eyes tested.

I've not had Graves so I can't answer that. I used to get severe migraines when I was getting my very first periods at age 12. I wonder if you are having any hormonal problems at present? It would be a good idea to get it checked out anyway, regardless. Migraines can sometimes be a sign of something more sinister. Hopefully not for you!
Cheers
