Concerning thyroid problems, nodules

I am a 28 year old female that has been having problems for a while now. My thyroid gland has been swelling on and off now for a couple of years. I am having symptoms of a thyroid disorder, like fatigue, hand tremors, flushing in face, warm sensation throughout body, breaking out in sweats, ect... though my blood work for thyroid problems keeps coming back normal. My family doctor told me that even though my blood work is okay, he foresees a problem because of the swelling. I was referred to an endocrinologist December of 2009. He did an ultrasound and found a nodule. He did another six months later, and now there is 2 nodules. Instead of recommending a biopsy, he wants to watch them for another 6 months. My blood work is still showing okay. He is running TSH T3 and T4 tests. My symptoms are getting worse. The flushing and sweats are worse, and I am now having palpitations in my heart. I also have a painless swollen lymph node in my neck that has popped up and I just found out during routine blood work that my LDH level in my blood is elevated.  I really think there is a problem but I am not sure if he is running all the necessary tests. Is the cortisol test a  good test to run? What about a scan of the thyroid? Could I have cancer of the thyroid since I am developing other knots in my neck and have an elevated LDH level in my blood? I am really concerned and am wondering if I need a second opinion.

I don't have them at this current time, but I have a doctors appt next week, and I can get a copy of them. I also just had another swollen lymph node pop up on the other side of my neck now and the hot flushes are getting worse. I will post them asap. Thank you for responding

Yes, time for a second opinion!  Do you have your last labs that you can post with reference ranges?
