Cramps with Yaz

I have been on yaz for 3 months now. I am tired all the time. I can't sleep at night but can't get out of the bed in the morning. I have been have cramps all over my body. My legs, side, face, and every where in my muscles. I went to the Dr for blood work. They said my thyroid is not working right so they did more blood work. I am tired of hurting all the time. My OBGY said its not yaz. But I am worried. I am 40 and I'm not use to feeling like this. I have gained weight and I feel like I am someone else. Does anyone else have cramps?

I went to the Dr today to go over my blood results. She said her and another talked over my blood work. I have trouble with my thyroid so they put me on Levoxyl 50 MCG. She said they will start me out on low dose and move up if they need too. My B 12 is not looking great. They put me on B-12 vitamin 100 MCG. She said my test results look like I may half to go on shots for B-12. It looks like my bodies not storing it. I just want to start feeling better. She said maybe I should try to go off of yaz and see if that is casuing some of my problems. I have been itching all over so I don't know what that is coming from. Its like a allergic reaction to something. I thank you for your post.

i too was on yaz for approx 3 months when my symptoms started, exhausted, moody, weak, cramps, muscle cramps, just achy pain all over, etc... which i didnt think of until now....anyways i had decided to switch to the depo shot because i couldnt remember to take my pill everyday....my forgetfulness got worse....so i was due for an annual and when i went in she found that my thyroid was swollen and proceded with blood tests. i'm wondering if you have thyroid history in the family if yaz can cause the thyroid to act up or if yaz itself can cause it.....i know that there were some unknown stuff about yaz even after it was put on the market. i just feel its very strange that i switched to a different bc pill and all of a sudden my thyroid acts up. Although my mother has hypothyroidism so even if it was from yaz it would be hard to prove.  i was on nordette for 14 years with no probs. i would definately look into the thyroid just to be sure.

Thanks so much for your help. I finally got my results. I go to the Dr tomorrow. My TSH was 7.8 now. I have been cramping all over my body and itching. I had cramps under my arms, in my arm pit ( which felt very strange)  My muscles twitch and ache all the time. The nurse acted like that couldn't be cause by my thyroid. I can't sleep at night and I am tired all day long. I hope they help me in some way. Thanks again for your help!!

One sure way to tell if it is the Yaz is stop taking it and see if the pains go away.  I have been on BCPS for years.  I am 44 and take Yasmine and do not have any trouble with the pill.  Have you had your Potassium and Calcium and Vit. D levels checked?  Yaz and Yasmine are not solely estrogen based and may cause elevated Potassium levels.
I had low Vit. D levels and had muscle cramping and tingling from the low level.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

I hate to disagree with your OB but I do. Yaz and any estrogen product will effect the function of your thyroid and other hormones. I do not at all recommend being on any of these products. There are numerous studies available on this - and you should take it upon yourself to read up more on this. WAs the reason for Yz given b/c of something other than birth control?

No, I'm not constipated. I have cramps all over. In places I haven't ever had them before. My legs hurt all the time. I have had bad cramps in my face, arms and side. I don't have any energy either. But I need to be on a brith control pill. But I don't know which one! Thanks for your comment!

Unfortunately, I do not have cramps unless I am constipated. Are you? Some thyroid issues can constipate you. My girlfriend was on YAZ and just got off of it. She hated it. She said she had horrible abdominal pain and said it took away all her energy!

Sorry I couldnt be of any help.
