Many family doctors are not trained well to deal with thyroid issues.  Many of them only test, diagnose and treat based on TSH, when you really need to know your actual thyroid hormone levels in order to be properly medicated.  You need to find a doctor who is willing to treat your symptoms as well as your lab numbers.  If you don't feel well, you aren't properly medicated.
