Enlarged Thyroid?? Lab results

I am an almost 40 year old woman, I have recently been fatiqued, have brittle nails, coarse hair and a sore throat and occassional painful swallowing and the feeling of needing to swallow.

I finally convinced a Primary Care Physician Assistant to run some tests.  Here are the results:

FT4  .73 (L)
TSH Sensitive  5.07 (H)
Thyroglobul AB  359.5  (1300   (<60)

Protien Total  8.9 (H)

I also had a Ultrasound of my Thyroid  the right lobe measures 5 x 1.4 1.8 cm and the left lobe measures 5.4 x 1.4 x 1.7 cm.  "Most likely a diffuse nontoxic goiter"

I have no idea what any of this means except that I probably have Hypothyroidism.  The ultrasound doesn't make it seem that big, but my sore throat seems to get worse by the day and my voice is occassionally hoarse.  I have an ENT appointment soon, but the Endo appointment is about a month out.  Any help would be appreciated.

There's something strange going on lately when you type a greater-than sign (not in all cases...I think just when it "stands alone" without quotes or parens around it).  You type the sign and then it blows away some of your typing.

Anyway, I agree...Hashi's, hypo, and you need to be on meds.  I think I'd see an endo before seeing an ENT, unless you think the ENT might start you on meds in the interim.  Your symptoms are classic Hashi's and meds will most likely help to alleviate them.  Would the doctor who ordered the tests prescribe a low dose to tide you over to the endo appointment?

Would be a great idea to test for Free T3, too.  They say that symptoms tend to go by levels of this.

Here's a helpful chart on what the levels mean:

I'm happy for you that you've got lab proof of the conditions.  Now you can get medicine and start feeling better.  Best to you.

The above looks like hypothyroid

Thyroglobul AB  359.5  (1300   (<60)

The above looks like positive for Hashimoto

I think someone will soon be posting that you need thyroid medicine.  You've sure got the symptoms for it.

I did proofread it, but it changed what I typed before posting it.  The Thyroid Pero AB is >1300  (<60)
