Upon reading my post again, I realized that I should have also asked you to post your thyroid test results and their reference ranges
Just having results somewhere within those so-called "normal" ranges doesn't guarantee that you will feel normal. The ranges are far too broad to assure that. If doctors used the ranges as a guideline within which to adjusts your levels as required to alleviate symptoms, that would be fine, since symptom relief should be all important. Unfortunately too often they interpret results that fall anywhere within the range as being okay and do nothing further.
I won't get into all the detail, but there are substantial reasons as to why feeling normal frequently requires that FT3 is in the upper part of its range and FT4 is at least at the midpoint of its range.
Ive had thyroid disease for many years. My docs always tell me that no matter how normal your levels are, having the disease itself will give you side effects. The thyroid affects us in many ways, and our hormones, fertility, etc is affected by the disease big time! As far as misdiagnosing, I'd say get your levels checked every three months. I have a standing bloodwork order for thyroid every three months because my body is so sensitive to meds. The proof will be in your bloodwork! If you are on meds, take it as prescribed and your bloodwork will show if you were misdiagnosed.
