I aM Having the same feelings my doctor want here of taking me off this meds. Were can we find help.? Take a alternative,
ok moose i ve been thinking...why don t you be the one to come up with a home self monitoring tool ????? you can do it i know you can--- you will get rich and help so many people..at least think about it look into it you ve already taken the first step!
I have the 'runny ears sensation ' when I am borderline HYPO , so as you see ...everyone is different as we already know.
QUOTE....
Say someone who gets a lot of exercise and feels good at a certain dose, then gets no exercise for a few weeks. Does all of that extra hormone really go through the kidneys and out or not? Or will they go a little hyper? UNQUOTE.
When I was working, I was on 75mcg of T4 med 5 times a week and 62.5mcg 2 times a week.
Since I finished working (and I mean REAL physical activity!) I have had to drop my T4 to 62.5mcg 5 times a week and 50 2 times a week.
So to be perfectly honest, I feel in myself if I am not as active.....then I dont need as much T4.
Stress changes my TSH though which Ive noticed.
At present my FT3 is a bit higher than normal (but within range) and FT4 is fine but my TSH is 4.6.
Normally my comfort zone is 2.3 - 2.5.
That is why at present, I am feeling 'crossover symptoms'.
If I increase because of the TSH, I will go hyper (even on 12.5mcg added WEEKLY) so I am staying on the same dose for another 2 weeks (6 weeks all up) and if there is still signs of hypo, then will increase by 12.5mcg.
I'm the sort of person who only has to look at the T4 med and I go Hyper lol...so baby steps for me, and I'd rather feel cold then have a racing heart.
The only thing I notice about the HYPO is I get mouth ulcers when TSH is a little high and FT3 is too.
This isnt the best to deal with but I did find an answer to it lol.
Banana skin.
Put the inside of a banana skin on the ulcer and within days its gone...whereas previously Ive gone WEEKS with ulcers.
At present, I wake up with a hot sweaty TOP part of the body and freezing cold legs...they are the only signs I have and can deal with that.
As you know Ive gone through a lot of stress the past 6 months so obviously my antibodies will rise....hence the highter FT3.
Hope that explains a bit more.
By the way...Doc agrees with me.(hehehe)
I do have low adrenals in the afternoon on the 24 hr test, but not on the once a day cortisol test. I am going to start higher doses of vit C as I dont want to take a medication for it.
"adrenal adaptogen" - please explain, new to me
thanks
This used to happen to me on synthroid - it was with hypo symptoms though.
Also happened 15 - 20 years ago when I got the Hashi hypo, hyper flip-flop - sometimes in the daytime too - it was wierd.
Yes some of us do, its easy If you take several grains together of dessicated. But a lab not too far away usually follows. And many have a really good guess after years of knowing what hyper and hypo feel like, plus a trusting with there doctor. I, nor anybody here can recommend doing this, unless you are obviously hyper. Still, when you think you know all the symptoms the 'gray' area is tricky, one reason docs dont like to put on on the edge with dosing, in a way I don't blame them.
this is a little off but, do you all change your med doses at times when you 'feel' you need to with or without calling your doctor. i don t call my doctor for every little thing. just curious
I already take b12 shots every 2 weeks for pernicious anemia and Vit C daily. I've read about adaptogens an even tried a couple but they didn't seem to do anything -- do you recommend a particular one for adrenals?
I would also consider it affecting your adrenals.....weak adrenals can intensify and even cause the flushing sensations, and hyper symptoms. Thyroid meds are very rough on the adrenals, and if they are weak at all, it can cause symptoms to worsen very quickly.
I take a good complex B 100 a couple times a day, extra B12, and Vit C along with an adrenal adaptogen to keep mine strong. :)
I have those 'sweats' quite a bit at night too - have had for some time. I'm not hyper - or even close - but I've been wondering what would cause them also. Since I go to bed very early (7:30 pm) and get up very early (3:30 pm) - my waking period is usually around 11:30 pm - 12:00am. It goes from a severe sweat, during which I have to toss off all the covers and may last 10-20 min, to an instant chill, in which I not only need all my covers back, but sometimes have to get up and put on socks or long sleeved shirt. I've talked to my doctor and there's been no suggestion of what it might be or suggestions to make it stop.
thanks Deb. 'crossover symptoms' - now there's a good term. I do have some ear buzzing to ( was a hypEr symptom for me). Fine tuning meds is tricky territory.
I have also jumped around on many different NDT this year, and that there might be variations of med induced symptoms depending on the brand - I have not fully felt 'hyper' on Nature Throid, so this could be the first sign for me on this brand.
I always wondered how the bodies rate of thyroid hormone can temporarily vary per influences of physical activity and stress. With a healthy thyroid I would think the body gets how much it needs, no more, no less. With replacement hormone, there isn't much choice. Were am I going with this? - Say someone who gets a lot of exercise and feels good at a certain dose, then gets no exercise for a few weeks. Does all of that extra hormone really go through the kidneys and out or not? Or will they go a little hyper?
I get that 'hot flush sensation around 3-4am in the morning when my FT3 is a fraction too high.
Although I am only on a T4 med.
Usually when I feel like that .....I decrease the dosage for a day or two but yes, sounds like hyper symptoms to me.
I always called it 'crossover symptoms.....FT3 a fraction higher than I'm used to and tsh a little high too.
With stress I have been under for the past few months, I had to decrease my T4 med by 12.5mcg a week to combat the hyper symptoms although my tsh was up as well as my FT3.
Catch 22...sorry.
Dov told me that this sometimes happens when illness or stress occurs.
Normally it all returns back to my 'comfort' levels when the stress has died down.
Hope that helps
