This is a post from 2007...
High Calcium and kidney stones, it sounds like hyperparathyroidism. Kidney stones is one of major symptoms of people with hyperparathryoidism. Check out parathyroid.com.
Hi,
I am a 44 year old femal with almost the same symptoms as you have. My calicum is high and so was my 24 hour urine test (388.7) normal is 100 - 200 for women. My doctor seems to be more concered with me having kidney stones (I have never had a problem with this in my life) than my parathyroid. I feel as though we are in the same boat. Please keep me posted.
thanks,
Lisa
MY CALCIUM LEVELS HAVE SHOWN UP HIGH ON MORE THAN 3 TESTS.I HAD NO IDEA THERE WERE THYROID ISSUES INVOLVED. I'V BEEN TRYING TO GET VARIOUS DR.S TO TEST ME FOR THYROID PROBLEMS
BECAUSE MY MOTHER HAD TO HAVE HER GOITER REMOVED AND WAS ON MED THE REST OF HER LIFE. I HAVE 4 SISTERS WHO ARE ON THYROID MEDS. BUT SINCE ONE TEST WAS FINE THEY WON'T DO IT AGAIN. I DONT HAVE ITCHING BUT AM VERY FORGETFUL AND AM ALWAYS COLD AND FATIGUED YET I HAVE INSOMNIA????
thank you, I will do.
I am also going to mention the hemochromatosis to her.
Thank you!
Karen
Honestly, it sounds like she's doing all the right testing to try to find a definitive cause for your problems. I wish my drs were as proactive. You might want to mention hemochromatosis to her as well. It can cause cirrhosis and thyroid issues on it's own and is inherited. Fortunately, it's easily treatable.
High calcium levels can be caused by several things, not just parathyroids.

Please post your test results when they come back.
Good luck and please keep us posted. :)
