question on how hashimoto pt's do after surgery

Hello:  I have hashimoto's i always have a sore throat, trouble swallowing and feels like someone has there hand on around my throat and alway fatigued.  I found out i have multiple, multiple nodules the largest is 2.2cm. The surgeon reccomends taking my thyroid out, but i have heard from other dr's who say to try to keep even with the a small risk of cancer. Even with a tsh of 4.80 i was not given any medication now it's 2.20 -no medication given.

I had a biopsy done it came out mixed macro-micro follicular nodule.  I wanted some advice on how people feel after having the thyroid out and if they feel better than before?  I would like some advice on if i should have the surgery?    Thank you

Nobody can really advise you on what to do; that's between you and your doctor; however, if there was the slightest chance that I might have cancer, I'd have my thyroid removed.

It sounds like you might have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which can cause swings from hyper to hypo to normal.

What are your current results, other than TSH?  You should also be getting tested for Free T3 and Free T4, as well. Be sure to post reference ranges, along with any results as ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.

Have you had any antibody tests done to confirm Hashimoto's? Please list those results, as well.
