OT: Ankle great news update ....

VERY INTERESTING EXCELLEN NEWS RE my foot/ankle.

On Friday night as I got out of the car I felt a terribly painful "pang" and then a rush of pain and nerve pain like elec bolt mixed with pins and needles!!!!!  I had awful cramping in the foot all night and iced it during the night and YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THAT THE FOOT IS DOING SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!

I woke up the next AM with more range of motion and so much less pain AND TODAY I WORE MY OLD SNEAKERS WITHOUT the orthotics in them and doing okay??????  GO FIGURE?  I think a piece of scar tissue or blood clot broke off and MAYBE THAT WAS WHY I WAS IN SUCH BAD pain all this while and why Jerk Dr. #1 couldn't understand how I could be w/o my orthotics when he sends them out for adjustment on Tuesday?????

I don't know .. but all I know is I am another 30% better overnight and this seems too good to be true !!!  About 60% better since June!!!!

Maybe a bone spur was causing what they call an impingement and it shifted and broke away ???  I really don't know but with severe tendonitis scar tissue and/or blood clots form along the way and they try to break them down with massage but with me never got too far bcz too painful.

I cannot wait to see what my therapist has to say about this ... yesterday I wore low black slip
on's to a wedding we went too and for weeks all I could think about was the ugly black sneakers under my fancy black slacks!!!

Yes, edema can hapen with the Prednisone and thyroid stuffs  .............they had me going for 8 mos until the Synthroid was leveled off and then they both said, "Yeah, you better see an Ortho as we don't think it is thyorid related!!!!" ... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well I am still wondering if it is adema someone said on here that if my t3 and t4 are not leveled out it can cause adema??? Plus i think steroids can also. So I just dunno, went ahead and made another dos apt prolly so they can go uh huuuuuu, and i went and got some compression stockings to try out. grrrrr

I started at my regular Orthopedist and he sent me immediately for the tests then as soon as he got the awful results he referred me to an Ankle/Foot Orthopedist and it took a mo. to get in to see him so I saw another one (who I call Doc Jerk #1) and then got in to see the one I wanted to see and will continue with #2 ... but #1 fit the orthotics and now I need adjustments .. #1 was slice and dice knife happy and #2 is much more conservative and realizes I am not a textbook case as I have had flat feet all my life and my body is more prone to work thru the tendonitis as this is not something "acquired" as an adult.

Well I keep telling them and showing them and they just arent doing anything, where did they do the mri and xray? I had mri of my lumbar and have facet joint disease and disc degeneration and mild stenosis so I just dunno what to think but dang i can hardley walk as it is now.

DO NOT DO WHAT I DID AND even listened to both my prim. doc and my endo telling me it was from being hypo when 8 mos later I had a simple x-ray and an MRI reveal SEVERE chronic tendonitis plus severe arthritis (bone spurs, cysts, no cartilage) ..............................I think the tendon problems would not be as severe as they are today if I listened to my own instincts .. but I was thinking I was over-reacting bcz of so much going on with thryoid and all, etc., etc.

Thanks for well wishes.  It still hurts alot (don't get me wrong) but different hurt which is more manageable!!  I have physical therapy today .. cannot WAIT to see what she has to offer as to what happened!!!

When I turn the foot inwards I only feel pain in one spot and when I put it back into resting/neutral position there is no pain whereas I used to get awful bone pain deep inside and radiating pain for many mins after I ret'd the foot into neutral.

My guess is that it was scar tissue and a bone spur .. one broke off and the bone spur inside the jt. shifted position.

So now I am dealing with basic severe tendonitis and less joint issues?????? That is my gut feeling.

How strange!!!  It will be interesting to see what the therapist has to say.  But, I'm SO glad that it's feeling better now.  Keep us posted on that!

Lori ~ who wishes she'd feel that "pang" in her neck and be able to swallow and breathe normally again!
