HYPO AND LOW CARB PROBLEMS

I have had Hypo for quite a while and was doing just great (150 Levothyroxine) And went on the low carb diet thing and my hours at work got upped to about 12 hours a day...Needless to say, I was missing meals left and right and also not eating any carbs. Well, I started getting pretty bad leg cramps and they progressively got worse and worse. I went to the ER and my potassium levels and such were fine, I got my thyroid blood work done and my doctor upped my dose to 200. Has this happened to anyone else? I also picked up a pretty bad anxiety problem as well. Things seem to be getting better, Has anyone else been through this, I am off the low carb thing and just eating right. Please shed some light. Thanks in advance!

Diet and certain foods can affect our thyroid levels, Starting/Stopping a High-Fiber Diet, eating too many Goitrogenic Foods, eating too many Soy Products , starting/stopping Calcium or Iron Supplements, Ibuprofen and Aspirin can affect the thyroid,  as well as many other things.

However, it's the natural course of hypothyroids for the thyroid to slowly burn itself out.  As this happens, med. dose will need to be readjusted.

I am a low carber and it hasn't effected my levels.

It is so important to eat well and get proper rest.Once you get back on a regular schedule you should see some of your anxiety symptoms recede. As a bi polar myself and thyroidless I know how very important this is.
I hope you get a lighter work schedule soon. take good care of yourself.
