Not sure where to ask this...but since am Hypo will start here

Since I've been on the Armour, FT3 gets off the floor but almost never gets to even the half-way point in range.  I'm curious to ask though since VitD was just tested.

These are labs done by the VA so they won't touch T3 without a valid reason (read here-numbers show there's a need to check it).  Yes, I know some results are "normal".  But...is this another one of those scenarios like with Thyroid where if you're not a good level things just don't feel right for some people?

At least the Cholesterols came out well for once!  Even better, since found out last month had been exposed to Asbestos for several years while in the Army, the Chest X-ray came back clear.

Chol    range <199     188
Trigylc range 40       71
LDL, CH  range 5.4 normal         24
Glu         range 65-100       103
TSH        range .46-4.7       0.289 (on Armour but not by VA so that Dr was freakish about it)
Ferritin    range 32-284       103
Homocy  range 4.1-13.1     8.81
HGB A1C  range 4.7-6.4 prediabetes     5.7
SedRate  range 4-27    18
RF IgM    range 0-7     0.9
B HCG        range 0-5     <5
CRP        range <1.0     1.062

I know there's quite a bit written here but it's been a while since I had some of these extra tests done.  They were done because of the level of inflammation that's been going on in my body since this past summer.  I would note that in November a HS-CRP was done by my Private Dr and it was above 3.0 in a high-risk category.

Seriously...what gives?  This is what I get for having quit Smoking and exercising and eating more healthy with a huge trend toward lower carb?  Oh, I give up.  Hell, might as well go back to doing all I used to do!  Seems to me the ONLY thing good from having quit smoking is that the Cholesterols all fell into line.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Sketchy?  I think the last time I posted about labs for Thyroid was in September 2010.  For that matter I don't think any one really wants me to do a long copy and paste with all of that.  The last FT3 was done in 11/2010 and the result was 2.30 with a Low range of 2.30 and I can't recall the High.

I was hoping for some insight about the VitaminD.

As I said, the VA won't do an FT3 test without valid reasoning...meaning the numbers indicate it should be done.  The one time they did it for me I had to fight tooth and nail to get that far with it.

As old posts of mine indicate, I also see an Private Dr for the Thyroid who prescribes the Armour which is based on test results of FT3 being on the floor, low basal temp, and other things.  Antibodies tests were negative.

Since this is the very first time that Glucose was over the line or even than an A1c was done, there was no High of Glucose to base my way of eating on.  Most folks would expect that eating low to lower carb would help with that but apparently it hasn't.

If there's a problem with this, so be it.

I don't see an FT3 result; nor do I see a vitamin D result.  When were the labs you posted actually tested?

If the tests above were done by VA, but they won't test FT3 and FT4, where are you getting the Armour?  Or do they prescribe that without checking actual levels?

Your glucose levels are high - check into the low glycemic index....... eat more foods that won't raise your blood sugars...

Please post whatever actual thyroid tests, along with the reference ranges........

Your information seems to be sketchy at best and labs maybe not recent enough.

It's all on old posts of mine.  I've not been around for months.  Don't the stuff in front of me so will have to hunt it up.

What really got the Docs attention was gaining 12lbs in less than six weeks in conjunction with the FT3.  That was back in Feb or Mar.

How much Armour are you taking?  What symptoms are you having indicative of being hypo?  If you have FT3 and FT4 test results, please post results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.
