Help!!

I have been taking synthroid ( generic and brand) for over ten years.  All of a sudden I have itching all over my body about 5 hours after taking it.  I know it is related to the synthroid because if I skip a day or two I don't itch.  My doctor and my allergist don't think it's the synthroid.  Don't know what to do.  I know I have to take it for life.  I wasn't offered any alternatives except for taking 50 mug tabs because they don't have the dye.  Still itches with that also.  Feel like I'm at a dead end.

I agree with Barb, you should switch medicine to different brand and then see if you are still itching.

It's possible that you are having a reaction to the fillers.  Ask your doctor if you can switch to Tirosint, which is a gel cap; better absorbed and hypoallergenic because it has no fillers.

It's worth a try, though some people find that they have to lower their dosage of Tirosint because of the better absorption.
