Thanks for the input. It's really nice to get some information from others who have gone through something similar. I will take your advice and ask for them to test the TGab and TPO for Hashimoto's. Thanks again.
BTW - Celiac disease can cause this as well, so request a celiac panel before giving up gluten. :) T.
I can guarantee you did NOT get the right thyroid tests. Get the TGab and TPOab for Hashimoto's. DO NOT let a doc tell you your labs are fine based on the pituitary hormone, TSH.
Yes, a traumatic experience like childbirth is often followed by this auto-immune disease.
Hive could be caused by the leaky gut. Almost every Hashi I've known has had hives at some point. For more on leaky gut syndrome: http://www.leakygut.co.uk/
The leaky gut eventually leads to the thyroid disease. Stress can also play a huge factor, and nothing is more stressful than childbirth!
If you test positive for Hashimoto's, I strongly suggest a good detox of the gut and eliminating gluten from your diet. Read this book for further information. The BEST Hashimoto's book out there: www.thyroidbook.com
