P.S. yes I'm thinking the same thing as to why not reduce it other than just taking me off all together......these symtoms are really hard to deal with now....especially since I was feeling so much better at one point

No I have not had an ultra sound done yet.....my Endo is going by my labs I guess and this is the second Endo that's going by my labs only......I was thriving towards Hypo with the labs in April which I was on 20mg Methimazole then reduced to 10mg both April and May I've been experiencing being weak and exhausted......ended up in the ER for ringing in my right ear and feeling unbalanced......went to see my Endo the next day and she then decided by seeing the Lab from the ER and my symtoms that she would take me off the meds for 2 weeks then recheck blood work.....but I'm feeling to many symtoms as of Monday.....first thread is April Labs this thread is 5 days ago Labs and now symptoms......
I just noticed that you have two different threads going seemingly with important info not included in both. Trying to put everything together from all the info given it appears that, as Barb mentioned, you were/are in the hyper phase of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Also, apparently the doctor tried to help by placing you on methimazole, but the 10 mg dosage was too much.and you went hypo. Now the doctor has taken you off the methimazole and you are going back into being hyper again. Why not just reduce the dosage, not eliminate it?
Also have you had an ultrasound test of your thyroid gland to confirm that it is Hashi's nodules that account for the hyper phase?
Ok so I was taken off my meds (methimazole 10mg) because of feeling exhausted and weak, ringing in right ear and seeing those numbers my Endo said she's stopping my meds, now I'm experiencing anxiety, feeling down, weak, fatigue, having burst of crying, no energy, feeling unbalanced it's been 3 days of this.....any suggestions as to why??
I would not go so far as to say that T4 testing does not reveal anything, but you certainly do need to be tested for Free T3 as well as Free T4. And symptom evaluation is even more important than biochemical test results.
A Free T-4 would be a better indicator of the unbound thyroid hormone in your system. My doc runs both T4 and FT-4 and I can tell you from my experience T4 testing does not reveal anything as far as thyroid hormone.
