Hi Barb, also read that hypo can cause gastroparesis, but it's most common in diabetics. Stomach not emptying properly or not at all which causes glucose levels to fluctate. Gastroparesis can cause severe fatigue.
Called my physician clinic today, clinic nurse shared if I don't hear from dr by closing, head to urgent care (ER),. I can't even drink a tiny glass of water without mildly vomiting. I've had this issue both hyper & hypo, noticed it's worst between med adjustment.
Wondered if there might be something else going on, there. Glad you found the problem.
Hi everyone, after hrs of research I discovered what's causing my chronic stomach bloating. It's not a thyroid hormone problem. I have Gastroparesis, which is common for type II diabetics, caused by high blood sugar or fluctuations. Maybe too much ice cream (sugar),. Ice cream helps but at the same time harmful,. Need to keep a better eye on my sugar levels, upon waking again.
So type II diabetics with bad bloating, constipation or gas, have physician test for Gastroparesis, if your A1c blood sugars are not in the normal range. Calling my primary, first thing on friday. Wishing everyone well.
Just wanted to make sure you have seen the PM I sent.
Maybe it's the chocolate in the ice cream. Maybe you could try other flavors to see if they have the same effect.
I do find it odd that the bloating/gas start right up again a couple hours after you get a little relief. Might be something else going on there.
Hi Goolarra, thanks for info. I love Bluebell dutch chocolate. Yes, I noticed guar gum as an ingredient. Interesting. I'll have to do some research. Never made my own ice cream, probably wouldn't be as delicious. So far bluebell has been working really well for me, haven't gained any weight, diabetes under control so I can eat some sugar, it's just sometimes I tend to devour ice cream, Lol !!!
You might take a look at guar gum. We make a lot of our own ice cream, but it's hard to get it as smooth as the stuff you buy in the store. We recently heard that adding a touch of guar gum to the ingredients (it's in most commercial ice cream) makes the consistency much better, and it does. It's a natural plant product, used as an emulsifier and thickener in many products.
Check out guar gum and IBS. This may be the "secret" ingredient that does the trick for you. Also, have you thought about buying an ice cream maker? You can then use all or part artificial sweeteners. It's medicinal! LOL
