Hypo-Hyper

Hi my name is Desiree and I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about 2yrs ago, I was placed on synthoid and they kept increasing my dose, and my TSH would rock bottom, but my Free T3 does not budge?  So they then added cytomel to the mix and started having palpitations, etc, my TSH had dropped to .33?  So I caused frustrated and switched Docs, she immediatly switched me to Armour started with 1 grain, Freet3 still did not budge, was like 226 which is low, so just increased my dose to 2grains, Well my hair is breaking off on the ends, two times a day I start sweating, I read somewhere that to be considered in hyperstate that you will have palpitations and irregular heart rate, I do not have that, I had my labs checked and for the first time, my Free Te is 316, which is great, but my TSH is 0.03?  doc called me yesterday and said not to pay attention to those symptoms, unless you have heart palpitations, and that it does not matter what the TSH says because we are treating the T3 not the TSH, does this Sound right?? I am confused!!!????  I thought maybe should would decrease my dose 1/2 grain but she said no because then your T3 will drop again?

any thoughts would be great!!

I actually live in Tampa florida, but you don't think my hair breaking off and my flushing of sweat is a symptom??  I thought I read some where that it was? Doc says that hair breaking off is probably old hair, but it is not it is also coming from my bangs that are new hairs, but I am going to stick with it, she just told me to stop the iodine that she had me on which was 12.5mg daily--so we will see what happens? Thanks

First of all, congratulations on finding your new doctor.   Most doctors that we hear about  would get excited with your TSH level, and want to reduce your meds, even though you have not exhibited hyper symptoms.  Further evidence is her statement that by regulating your free T3 levels, your symptoms are being treated, instead of treating your TSH level.

This is the kind of doctor we are all looking for.  I'm envious.  That's the kind of doctor I'm looking for right now for several of my friends with thyroid problems.

What area do you live in?
