I'll send his name.

Really, nothing can be done about the autoimmune part of our disease.  Medical science hasn't gotten that far.  There are lots of theories out there that purport a certain diet, etc., but they are unproven and there's a distinct money trail to be followed.

If you feel better not eating gluten, then by all means, give it up.  I was g/f for close to a year, and it did absolutely nothing for my Hashi's.  I'm back to my regulart diet and fell better than I did g/f.

Thanks,

Ft Lauderdale is an hour and a half.   would have to check to see if he accepts my coverage.

Please send his name, I have found an integrated med doctor in Port St Lucie.
She is on my plan......guess we have to just jump around till someone understands.

I know Armour works for me, but still Thyroid could be better and nothing is done about hashimoto.
I don't eat gluten and take Vit D.

Regular MD says NOTHING can be done.......and he's a smart guy!

I'm sorry to hear you had to do all that for nothing...frustrating.

I can't help you with the naturopath or IM doctor, but one of our members keeps a list of doctors recommended by other members, and there's an endo in Ft. L if that's not too far.  If you're interested, I'll PM his name.

my trip to the endocrinologist (40 miles) was a waste.
After I did 2 pages of paper work, she asked for insurance cards, they don't take Medicare/humana.  Won't see a patient, even for cash since they don't have a contract with that provider???

Now I'll find a integrated med doc or naturopath.
anyone know a doc like that in Port St Lucie Fla?

thanks!

Thank YOU, I have written all that down.
In Ohio, I had an integrated Med MD, who would have understood it all.
However this Fla MD...(traditional) tells me my thyroid is fine, there is NOTHING that can be done with Hashi's.............didn't suggest diet or Vit D etc.
All he pushed was the statin......asked me:
WHY do you want plaque in your arteries, he's been on a statin for 6 yrs. etc.
He never would have prescribed Armour, only I had a bad reaction to Levo, went back to  my Armour on my own, he could see an improvement.

A lot will depend on the "openness" of the endo. or I will seek an inetgrated med or Naturopath.

appreciate the suggestions !!

I'd be prepared to emphasize to the endo that you have lingering symptoms.  Write them down, so that you don't forget any under pressure.  High cholesterol is also a symptom of hypo, so be sure to include that as well.

Your FT4 is at 27% of range, still much lower than the rule of thumb of 50%.  Unfortunately, that a total T3 that your doctor ordered, not as useful as free T3.  However, it's very low, too, especially for someone on dessicated, which contains T3.  Your labs clearly have lots of room for improvement, and your symptoms confirm that.

TPOab is elevated, which indicates Hashi's, autoimmune hypothyroidism.

I'd ask for an increase.
