Increased TPO-antibodies due to Armour Thyroid?

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis in October 2006. I was immidiately set on Levaxin (the Swedish counterpart to Syntroid). At length it has turned out obvious that t4-hormone supplement has cured only 70 % of my thyroid problems. Therefore my physician added t3-hormone to my thyroid treatment 2 weeks ago. The first week with the new medication was ok, but after then I turned very nervous, just like hyper symptoms so I decreased my intake of t3-hormones to a very low level and increased the t4 supplement back to the level i hade before I hade t3 supplement. After 2 days with just 5 micrograms of t3 I caught high fever which disappappeared when I stopped my t3 intake.

The problem in my case seems to be that my body doesn´t seem to heal itself completely by the synthetic thyroid hormones. Is seems as if my body doesn´t recognise the synthetic hormones. Therefore I´m getting all the more convinced that I would rather use Armour Thyroid instead. But I have a question about Armour due to the fact that I have Hashimotos. I have caught information from many sources (books and internetsources) that the natural porcine hormone extracts in Armour "feeds" the TPO-antibodies and thus encreae the antibody titer. Is this true or is it only a myth? If Armour encreases the antibody titer I wouldn´t dare to ask my doctor to prescribe Armour. So pleas answer immidiately: Is Armour Thyroid a suitable treatment when you are diagnosed Hashimotos thyriditis hypothyrodism?

The claims about Armour not being of a consistent dose ought to be laid to rest.  I believe that was a charge made by the makers of the synthetics to discredit Armour (I take synthetics, so I'm not prejudiced).

The goal is to be symptom-free.  Good luck with the Armour..

I do thank you for their infoirmation. I know that Armour´s formula recently has been changed. However the opinions about it are really different. Some people says it has become better and other say´s the opposite. The main thing for me is if it works and the dose per tablet is standardized. Of course it is a big advantage if it helps the remaining 30 % of thyroid symptoms.

Many people with Hashi's take Armour, and it is definitely a suitable alternative to synthetic hormones.  No thyroid hormone replacement therapy either increases nor decreases antibodies.

One word of caution...I have been reading posts lately from people who are on Armour.  Apparently they have changed their formula recently, and a lot of current users do not like what they have done to it.  You might look at some recent posts regarding Armour and see what they have to say.  There are other brands of dessicated pig thyroid that might be a better choice.
