Do I want RAI? On Methimizole and it's making things worse.

Hi, I'm a 40 yo male with Graves disease.
So I know it's just standard operating procedure but the first thing the clinic did was put me on thyroid suppression medication so they can get more blood tests at the end of two months. I can tell allready this is not a long term solution. It's making my fatuige symptomes ten times worse. I have no energy whatsoever and I'm dropping weight like I'm on a desert island, (been a month so far).
An aquaintence who has graves, (also a middle aged male), went through the same thing and said, "dont even mess with the suppression treatment. Just go for the RAI". He said it made his life a whole lot better.
My gut feeling is I want RAI. My poll is have you or anyone youve known had the radiation treatment, gone on hormone replacement, and has it been a good thing.
Thanks for any responses, I'm feeling very depressed and lost in the HMO medical system.

I am over two years into suppression therapy and am good most days. Might have it out since it won't ever get better, but since I have TED doing the RAI isn't advised. So since surgery is my only option I am milking the methimazole. My dose is small and my symptoms better...but it took awhile to regulate and when you are hyper- patience is tough to come by.  I understand how you are feeling and for most folks- RAI is the way to go.
