ask for a copy of the test. they should print it out for you at your doctors office or if you go to a lab ask that the results also be mailed to your house. you just have to sign a request release for them to do it. its your test your insurance paid for it, they shouldn't object in any way.

Definately call in and get those ranges.  Without them the results basically mean nothing.  You say "if she calls back"  I've had one of those doctors who never return calls.  I ended up paying her a visit in person unexpectedly and getting my results that way.  Maybe thats what you need to do, if it isnt too much of a hastle pay her a visit and speak to her secretary.  Tell the secretary you need your results and you've called and got no response so you thought you'd call in and personally pick them up.

You're not a whinner, you feel bad and need (and deserve) some answers.  Sometimes as sad as it is we need to push the doctors, and it can get completely frustrating.  I'm so sorry you feel so frustrated with it all.  Try to keep hanging in there and stay positive, it will get better for you eventually.
Im ok thanks.  Am having a small increase in my meds as of Monday so we'll see how that goes.

Thanks Nat you are right. She actually just mailed them to me without the ref. ranges so I have a call in to them trying to get them if she calls back. I hate to sound like a whinner but I really have not been myself for months now. I am having other problems going on but all I get is they keep referring me on to another doctor. Im so frustrated i want to cry! I keep having blood test and they say they look fine but I really feel like I cant get dressed sometimes to even go to the dr. appointments. Although, i have went. Sorry for taking on so much im just so frustrated. Hope you are ok . Thanks for taking time to answer mine with all you have on your plate too! Bless you.

Next time you go see your doc ask for a printout of all your recent test results.  If you ask he/she can't say no, they are your results!

It makes it so much easier if you have a copy of your results.  You can track things yourself and if you decide to change doctors you already have your past results and dont need to waste time chasing them all up.

It is frustrating when doctors dont spend time answering your questions, I've found you've just got to keep pushing your questions and not giving up until you get a satisfactory answer.  Sometimes we need to be proactive in finding solutions, especially when the doctor doesn't willingly give details/explainations of things.

Thanks for the answers. Ill try to get the ranges from them if I can. I get so aggravated when they wont take time to answer questions. I know that I havent felt good for sometime now. I can hardley get outta bed anymore. I mean it is getting so bad my son came in and said ok mom it is around 2pm and you went to bed at 8pm yesterday. Time to get up. I just am so worried. Thanks again.......Renee

I agree with Nat...ranges have to come from your lab.  You could call the lab and ask them or call your doctor again and ask for them.

That being said, the range for FT4 is usually somewhere around 0.8-1.8.  So, 1.3 would be exactly midrange, and that's the target for FT4.  It looks really good.

Unfortunately, your doctor tested total T3, which is considered an obsolete test and of limited usefulness.  However, if I remember the TT3 range, 106 looks quite low in the range to me.

My guess is that you don't convert well, and your free T3 (FT3) is too low.  You should ask your doctor to test FT3.  It's quite possible that you are a slow converter (T4 must be converted to T3 before cells can use it) and need to add a direct source of T3 to your meds (either synthetic or dessicated).

As for ranges, the usual range for TSH is about 0.30-3.50...maybe give or take a little either side.

As for Free T3 and Free T4 they are specific to the individual lab and must come from your report.

I would push your doctor to give you a print out of your results.

Good luck :)
