Itching

I have been getting hives on the sides of my face, my temples, under my chin and my neck. On top of that my entire neck area down to my chest, the back of my neck and shoulders and inside forearms have severe itching. I've been to an allergist, thinking I had a food allergy. All food allergies were negative. I had a goiter 21 years ago and was put on thyroid meds. I was taken off after my child was born by my thyroid specialist. I was tested for Hypo... 4 years ago and they said that I my thyroid was fine, The sever itching just started 4 months ago. Help me!

I used to get hives and terrible itching too, before I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. That was mostly in the hyper stage of my disease, and I believe it was the excess hormone reacting in my body causing the itchiness. I still get it ocassionally but no where near as bad as before. I get patches of it and usually when under stress. I have had my thyroid removed and I know that it sure made a difference in the severity of the itching.

What you need to do is start an elimination process and go through all your cosmetics, shampoos, etc and remove one for a while and take note if the itching stays or not. I found whilst having my thyroid and the Hashimoto's, perfumed laundry powders made it worse.

You might need to get your anti-bodies checked too, to see if you have Hashi's
