Thai you for the reply. Yes these labs are from my dr that only wants me on synthroid. The armor is going to be a shock to him tomorrow whennintell him how much better I feel in the past 2weeks then I have in the past 7 months. The new guy not sure what he test with I will have to find out when I switch over to him. Saw him as a consult for possible new dr.
It is encouraging that you have a doctor that at least is willing to prescribe Armour. I do have a concern that the doctor is testing for Total T4, T3Uptake, Free T4 Index, and Total T3. Those tests are somewhat outdated and not nearly as useful as just testing for Free T4 and Free T3, which are the biologically active thyroid hormones, along with TSH. So that is one change that you should consider requesting for all future testing.
A good thyroid doctor will treat a patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T3 and Free T4 as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief should be all important, not just test results. Many of our members report that symptom relief for them required that FT3 was adjusted into the upper part of its range and FT4 adjusted to around the midpoint of its range. FT3 is the most important because it largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions. Scientific studies have also shown that FT3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while FT4 and TSH correlated very poorly.
If you want to know more about clinical treatment, this is a link to a letter written by a good thyroid doctor for patients that he is consulting with from a distance. The letter is written to the PCP of the patient to help guide treatment.
