Levoxyl and hair discoloration

I have been taking Levoxyl - 0.125MG daily with Cytomel 5 MCG 2x daily - for the past six weeks. My light blonde hair is now turning a patchy grey brown color, is extremely dry and I'm losing a lot every time I comb or brush. Is this the type of hair I'm going to have for the rest of my life on Levoxyl?

I'm eating healthily, taking omega 3 and doing all the right things for healthy hair otherwise. Do you have any recommendations for me? My hair feels as if it is dead no matter how well I condition and wash it with non-sulfate cleansers.

I just looked at you profile.  Do you think your hair might be darkening before turning grey?  You are at that age (you're a year younger than I).  I've witnessed a bunch of blonds in my life who went grey really fast once they decided to start!  It seemed one day they were gold and the next silver!  I think you'll have to wait and see on the color change...if you were 30, I'd say it would come back, but this might not be thyroid-related, perhaps just precipitated a little more quickly by the thyroid deficiency???

In continuation of my question. I have discovered that since stopping Synthroid, using Armour instead, and also taking Deplin 7.5, the hair loss has stopped. But the severe color changes - from pale blonde to dirty looking and dark - will that change back as the thyroid heals?

No, once your levels are adjusted properly and your body has time to heal, your hair will return to it's former state also.  Six weeks is not enough time to reverse the damage to your body from being hypo, and some symptoms (especially having to do with hair which is not nearly as vital as brain, heart, etc.) can take a few months to improve, and that's once your dose is properly adjusted.  You should be about due for bloodwork after being on your current dose for six weeks?  At that time, you might need a meds adjustment. It takes patience to get it right.  I believe the hair issues have to do with having been hypo, not the Levoxyl.
