I am so confused! I have had gall bladder pain(or at least in that exact area) for over 5 months. I have had every scan and test and they all come back normalNormal saline flush function. I had an endoscope because they thought maybe it was an ulcer. NormalNormal saline flush. Biospy normalNormal saline flush. (I also have celiac disease and that came back fine-faithful gluten free diet for over 5 years.) The gastro doc took blood and noticed low thyroid numbers. My primaryPrimary amyloidosis Primary biliary cirrhosis Primary hyperparathyroidism Primary insomnia Primary lymphoma of the brain doc has been testing me and everything else comes back normalNormal saline flush except me TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh. It went from .0004 to the last level reading was "below .0004". I sit here writing right now with no gallbladder pain, so it does come and go. I should also mention, which I feel related, My right eyeball swells. Literally gets larger. Especailly when my gallbladder hurts. Si emergeny docotr(retnal specails)treated itlike sceritis(sp?) and put me on eye drop steriods 4 times per day. Could that one level be enough to be messing my thyroid up and making it hyper?
With TSH of .0004 you would be considered hyperthyroid. FTs with TSH at the same blood draw would relate, along with uptake and scan to confirm what the blood levels relate in which type of hyperthyroid condition. I hope you are being treated!
This low of TSH can cause eye problems which will go back to normal once thyroid levels are back into Labs range. However, you could have TED - thyroid eye disease, an autoimmune eye disease separate from thyroid autoimmune disease, which will not go back to normal with correct levels and will be needed to be treated separate from thyroid when the hot phases are over and you are in the cold phase (non-active). TED can be very sever in some and very mild in others. You just have to wait and see how sever yours will become. However there are antibodies test which can tell if you are more likely to get TED.
The primary care dr. put me on PTU to lower to TSH level and it didn't stop the swelling or pain(at the time) it just made be feel like garbage. Tired, napping ect. So, me, being "dr mom" took myself off and I am waiting for my edcro. appt next Thursday. Thank you for your information. I did not know about hot & cold phases. That makes a lot of sense and explains why my gallbladder feels OK now. Eyes, swelling is down but still hurt. Thanks again
I was lucky to be treated for thyroid and gall bladder disease by a wonderful Dr who looked at the symptomology of the disorders...he has since had a stroke..he was Dr Smedley of Kingston, PA...hge wrote a few books too...
If you haven't alreday, I would try a low fat, no-gall bladder stimulating diet, look up his book titled the F.A.T. book ...also, the scan that was positive was having an ultrasound leasure the gall bladder at total rest, after 6 weeks of the diet and a fast from midnight...then you stand up and they infuse bits of the hormone that triggers your gall bladder to contract...while standing...you do feel symptoms...I had pain but did not get sick...at the end they measure again to see if the "ball valve" that is your gall bladder contracts...your other ills may be a result of a poisonous gall bladder...Dr Smedley has another book showing research on linking even eating disorders to the gall bladder, withh many success stories...
the test I have described has no radioactivity or dyes and as soon as they stop the infusion, the symptoms resolve...the whole thing was about 25 minutes and then IU walked out and ate breakfast
dr smedley had a stroke and is sadly completely incapacitated...but noting the item on the diet that cause disocomfort, as well as the hormonal relationship between the gall bladder and other glands, like the thyroid, may lead you to find your triggers for pain and maybe alleviate some...things like graham crackers, caramel coloring in soda, and ALL fat free or low fat foods include gall bladder triggers...
good luck with getting help
