Hyperthyroid-Hair loss-weight gain-fatigue?

My dr DX me with hyperthyroidism Iam seeing a specialist on the 18th I got tested because I started to lose an excessive amount of hair.Iam not being treated yet waiting to see the endo dr. and Iam guessing they will want t do more tests because the only tests my dr did was -TSH,FTI,T4 AND T3 UPTAKE.

MY TSH IS 0.22
T4-13.6 (NORMAL. RANGE.4.7 - 11.5)
T3 UPTAKE- 34.0 (NORMAL RANGE 24.2 - 34.2)
FTI-4.62 (NORMAL RANGE-1.68-3.80)

I have a couple of questions Iam new here and am finding this stuff very confusing.

I was wondering if anything else besides hyperthyroidism could be causing the hair loss and elevated test results?
Iam on birth control pills and symbicort and rescue inhaler for asthma and under a ton of stress. My hair is very thin now You can see my scalp in places. Also anything I can do to slow down the hair loss?

My main symptoms right now besides the hair loss is fatigure, bloating and constipation and brittle nails.I feel tired all the time and have seemed to put on 10 pounds in the last couple of weeks even tho I havent changed anything Iam eating less actually and work out about 2 hrs most days of the week.I recently lost over 75 pounds in the last couple of years with diet and exercise I sure dont want to gain it back!So this is now adding to the stress!!! If I was hyper why would I be gaining weight?? Even tho I have been feeling fatigued I push myself thru my workouts.

I forgot to add, I only lost hair once I became hypoT.
My hair grew like a weed when I was hyperT.

I'll bite, because I had hyperthyroidism until I had radioactive iodine treatments to kill my thyroid off.

When I was suffering from the hyperT, I had muscle shakes/tremors, my periods came back (had endometrial ablation years ago, so shouldn't have periods at all), I ate like a pig and constantly lost weight (which was nice), I would be flying high for an hour or two, then I'd crash....and crash really hard, then fly high as a kite again for an hour or two...then crash once again.

I've never heard of anyone gaining weight with hyperT, only hypoT (I gained 30 pounds in one month when I became hypoT and am just now losing a little of it at a very slow rate even with exercise and diet).  Constipation is also not common with hyperT, with hyperT most people I know of, as well as myself, would have diarrahea anywhere from 3 to 5 times a day.  HypoT, however, will cause severe constipation.  The brittle nails you speak of only occurred with me AFTER I became hypoT.

I would wager a guess that when you see the endo, he won't do any further blood tests, since the blood tests you had done are the same blood tests the endo will do.  He may, however, redo the blood tests just to make sure the numbers are correct and that there wasn't some issue with the testing.

Your thyroid levels aren't that bad, from the numbers you've posted.  However, the symptoms you've described are the symptoms we thyroid patients get from hypothyroidism and not hyperthyroidism.

I'll be interested to see any further posts you make, especially after you see the endo.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU.
