The phrase 'Triple Goitre' was very common way back then. Was even used through the 1960's. It is actually as smilerdeb says a reference to the thyroid being approximately 3 times larger than normal. Not that it has 3 goitres!
Most probably but usually its referred to as an 'inflammed goiter'.
Maybe this Doc likes to 'put things differently'.
As for the childbirth thing...well...........
I dont think I screamed through my childbirths but I sure as he11 come out with some lovely words ...NOT lol.
could a goiter be enlarged three times it's size??? hence a triple goiter??
Umm...Ive never heard of a 'triple goiter' lol....a goiter is a goiter regardless of how big it is :)
Its an old wives tale.
Thanks Red.
I don't think I was prepared to answer this post.
I think that is a lovely old wive's tale in explaining Post-Partum Thyroiditis! It is the actual pregnancy that creates changes the thyroid. Not the screaming!
are you screaming right now on this post?
