Lumpy Neck - What do you know about lymph nodes?

My lymph nodes have been swollen and tender for at least 8 months. Endo says it's not her realm. GP says wait and see because CBC shows no infection.

I have hypothyroidism. Antibodies are at 11 (under 35 is normal) so not autoimmune. At last test (Jan) thyroid hormones were at appropriate range.

I also just had  ultrasound that found a probable parathyroid tumor (waiting on blood tests for confirmation). I have not asked my Endo about the lymph nodes since this finding.

50% enlarged thyroid, parathyroid tumor (?), and swollen lymph nodes(just under the jaw line both sides and submental node are all affected, though submental node is not tender). Are these connected???

Both of my thyroid ultrasounds have shown homogeneous tissue and my antibody tests are normal. That's why I'm completely puzzled about the swollen tender lymph nodes in my neck. My CBC is good.

The lymph chain is the drainage system of the thyroid; therefore if some sort of viral inflammation is present in the thyroid, it eventually spreads to the lymph nodes causing the inflammation.
Answer to your previous question: the CAUSE OF parathyroid swelling [benign adenoma] is unknown.
If new ultrasound will show the "Swiss cheese pattern" of the thyroid, it will reveal thyroiditis. In case of doubt and when antibodies are not elevated, the biopsy of inflamed thyroid area is done in order to look for lymphocytes [which shows either Hashimoto's or silent thyroiditis]
