Hello. I am 40 years of age and16 weeks pregnant. 4 weeks ago, I had some thyroid function tests come back indicating hyperthyroidism.
Free T4 27.4 (10.0-19.0)
TSH < 0.03 ( 0.5-4.0)
Free T3 12.5 ( 3.5-6.5)
I also had antibody tests under taken.
Anti-thyroglobulin: 263 kIU/L ( 1.5)
My anti-thyroid peroxidase were within normal limits.
I was placed on 300mg PTU daily and some of my symptoms (eg- tachycardia and sweating) have reduced.( I have been feeling quite unwell for around 2 years and, around 18 months ago, my GP wanted to start me on anti-depressants for anxiety and nervousness. I didn't feel right about taking them, however, so the prescription was never filled.)
Do the above results indicate Graves disease? Also, are the TSH receptor and thyroglobulin anti-body titers a cause for concern regarding possible problems for my baby, even if things settle down, T4,T3 wise in the last half of pregnancy?
Thank you in advance, quietly concerned mummy.
