New problem 1 year after RAI

I have been off of the boards for a while.  I am experiencing my right cheek and behind my right ear getting swollen when I eat certain foods.  I also have a salty taste in my mouth when that happens.  It is quite painful.  I went to my primary and he couldn't feel anything, so he prescribed 800mg ibuprofen. (OF course I hadn't eaten when I went to see him, so it wasn't inflamed, but still very sore) I finally put two and two together and realized it happened when I ate. From what I have read online,  I think this is a side effect from RAI- has this happened to anyone else?

Just got back from my endo.  It is my parotid and submandular glands.  He doesn't think it is rai related, but is sending me to an ent.  I just got an appt. for Monday.  I have read some things online with people having the same thing 1 year or more post rai.  It's the same feeling I had when I was in the hospital eating sour candy to get the swelling down.Coincidence???? I have that salty taste in my mouth as well.  Maybe there is a blockage.  I feel your pain Totie- i don't even want to eat either.........maybe I will lose some weight.

I too have that same problem. Underneath my jaw line gets very painful when i eat. The pain goes right up to right behinde my ears. I went to the ENT last week, it could be the submandibular gland. It is very painful to where you seriously consider even eating. I keep you updated on what my ENT says. (Still waiting on appt. for CT Scan)

Try looking up the submandibular gland.

Yes, I am experiencing the same exact thing. I do have some swollen glands in my face and my ENT has put me on antibiotics and told me to use a warm compress on my right side. This has happened to me since May and the swelling is always there? I was told it was probably from the RAI too? I go see my ENT on Thursday and I am going to tell him nothing has worked so far? Did you make an appt with any other docs? You will have to let me know how you make out with this problem? Thanks K<3
