Normal levels, but still symptomatic? anyone?

Hi

Down to 1 pill twice a day, normal levels, tsh 1.24, T4, free 1.2, T3, total 148. But still having the tremor and heat intolerance (although not as bad as first diagnosed), swelling in feet at night, so bad that can't walk when i have to get up in the middle of the night, painful. Doc says since I am in normal levels none of this should be happening! I say that is a bunch of bu//. Anyone else feel these even though their levels are normal? She says now i will need to be on PTU for another 1.5 years, when she told me last time I would be on them for 1.5 years total. I just want to be off of these meds, what is it doing to my liver i ask? she runs panels for that every 3 to 6 months and all is ok thus far. Just want to start getting my life on track, my muscles are so deteriorated every time i start exercising my back has severe back spasms and have to stop or i am hunched over and my back goes out with pain in the sciatica. Want to start getting some of the weight put on my this terrible but affective med. So anyone feel normal when levels are normal like doc says i should? hello, don't i still have graves and doesn't the normal only mean that the ptu is ineffect tricking my thyroid to think it is normal, this all baffles me. thanks

I forgot to add, that I was told "I can no longer have thyroid issues since I no longer have a thyroid". I can see how that is true to a certain extent, but I have never asked them if I still had graves. I am sure they will say since I had a TT, "NO".

Go fgure...

Thanks all

I hate when they say you should feel normal, have they ever had graves and know what it feels like? by seeing everyone posts here, they are apparently not listening to their patients AT ALL. Seems clear that we will ever feel normal again, maybe normal for graves is what they should say, or at least you should be feeling better at these new levels. not no sorry, but the tremors heat muscle aches etc... are not part of the graves anymore? hello? I am almost 48 and of course am perimenopausal, but fsh tests say not anywhere near menopause, and aren't we all perimenopausal from the day we get our periods? I went to this doc in boston because she was first a woman and would understand, and second i thought her knowledge would be better than a local doctor. Apparently they are all the same, I may switch to someone here if they are all going to say the same thing, i mean why take a day off of work and waste the gas to hear what someone local would tell me. I have a terrible time at night with the bottom of my feet swelling, that is the worse. muscles are so weak that when i start to exercise, my back goes out, well hell almost 50 I guess that is it huh? according to them it is all downhill from here on out~!! appreciate the feedback. Hope you both feel better.

I had graves, (TT 15yrs ago) and I still feel like I have it. I have insomnia, cold during the day & night sweats at night. During the day my hands and feet are like ice.. Painful muscles aches (only top part of thighs) at times, not daily. I never feel full. I have dry skin as well, I am underweight.

My last lab results (July 09) were:

TSH, 3rd generation: .68  (range .40 - 4.50 )
T4, Free                   1.3 (range .8 - 1.8)

But those are within normal range. So according to all doctors I am fine....

"My range is 1. 46 and I still feel lousy, and she told me that that was to low and she would recommend lowering it."

I just reread that and I should have said "lowering the Armour."

Sorry you are still symptomatic,  but I can oh so relate, as can many others here, I am sure. One thing that struck out to me is that your TSH can go lower, as the new range is 0.3-3.0. And some of us feel better with it at the lower end of the range.

My range is 1. 46 and I still feel lousy, and she told me that that was to low and she would recommend lowering it. She did not change my Rx, so I am not lowering it.

Don't know how old you are, but could you also be peri menopausal? That does not help much either, and are you on Armour or Synthroid? I should have read your profile first, I reckon. If on Synthroid, you are probably needing the T3.

Anyways, all we can do is hang in there and pray, and keep researching.
Feel better soon....
