Couple of questions... and a rant

First question...
Next Friday I am having an FNA.  Can someone tell me what to expect?  Is it painful?  Should I ask for a numbing shot?  My nodule is 2.9 in the left lobe.

Second question...
I have been experiencing a tingling in my left foot and left pinkie.  I've never had anything like this before until recently.  I found out I had Hashimoto's only because I ended up at the doctor's because of the tingling in my foot and pinkie.  He immediately looked at my neck and commented on how swollen it was.  I told him I had been on thyroid meds for years, but lately I have been having problems swallowing, waking up at night gasping, and just feeling sick to my bones with a cold feeling I cannot even explain.  He ran a complete panel of tests and sent me for an ultra sound.  He told me my antibodies were really high and upped my dose to 150 Synthroid, told me to never take generic again, and the tingling could possibly be a sign of MS.  GASP... so after the rant, here's my question...
Do any of you experience tingling or numbness with your thyroid disease?

Thank you for reading
Lisa

Just had 2 ultrasound guided FNA within the last month - 3.9cm rt. I did not find it painful --- like a little sting or scratch. I was not offered numbing solution but would have been concerned that that might corrupt the sample in my own lame brain----probably nonsense! Rad doc took 3 samples (ie 3 needles ----contents of which are then smeared on slides) and you get a cute little bandaid. I did tell the doc that I was afraid and I think this directed him to be gentle and professional - put a voice to your feelings as it helps! I laughed immediately after at how afraid I was because it was fine for me (if you've had kids naturally - no worries!!); I cried later when I realized it should have been biopsied 4 yrs ago when 1st discovered on ultrasound, but the technician used excuse in written report that he thought I "couldn't drive home after" (I drove home 4 yrs later!), and ENT of then never followed up with me. I left clueless as to the importance of an FNA; 4 yrs later have realized key is ---person doing it (no trainees) and getting it done.  Good luck!  (sorry - can't help with other question)   : )
