I had a total thyroidectomy in December and I haven't gained any weight at all.  My metabolism seems to be the same as it was before the thyroidectomy.  I do exercise though. My doc told me that you can't sit around, do nothing, gain weight and then blame it on your thyroid. If you were overweight before, you will probably be the same after unless you exercise and eat right.  If you were normal weight before then I believe you can expect the same. At least that's what my doc said and my experience has been.

Thanks Liz94. I am a size 10-12 I am wondering whether even if I use the Gym or even eat healthy food, whether still due to my thyroid been out whether in the next 6 months I would get overweight. I feel a bit sleepy and tired.
